Dr. Zvi Galil, Frederick G. Storey Chair in Computing and Executive Advisor to Online Programs at Georgia Tech, spoke about Georgia Tech’s Online Master of Science in Computer Science (OMSCS) Program and the future of online learning in higher education on Tuesday, April 12.

The OMSCS program started in 2014 with 380 students and five courses; in spring 2022, more than 12,000 students are enrolled in more than 50 courses, and the program has graduated more than 6,500 students. Dr. Galil described the OMSCS program, discussed its first eight years, and shared what Georgia Tech has learned through the program.

Born in Tel Aviv, Israel, Dr. Galil has been on the faculty of Columbia University, has served as president of Tel Aviv University and in two deanships, and joined Georgia Tech in 2010. He has written over 200 scientific papers, edited five books, and given more than 250 lectures in 30 countries. In 2021, Academic Influence included Dr. Galil on its list of top influential computer scientists in the last decade.
